Default Shurhold's Rotary PRO

Hello all,

Shurhold has just released our new Rotary PRO, an extremely powerful polisher designed to correct even the dullest finish. We put some serious thought into this tool. I have used one for a few months now, it does a great job. Pick one up today or stop by the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show and try one yourself.

Here are the numbers:
  • 7" Quick Change Backing Plate
  • 3 Different Ergonomic Gripping Styles
  • EZ Clean Mesh Air Intake Vents
  • EZ Change Carbon Brush Ports
  • Thumb Controlled Variable Speed Dial
  • Locking ON Button
  • Detailed User Guide
  • Canvas Storage Bag

Does it weigh less than the original. I find the original to be heavy.

Edit- This is a rotary one and I do not trust myself with it. Is the new dual action buffer liter than the original?

It's actually heavier. The Rotary PRO is a different machine than the Dual Action tools.

What differentiates this from other sander/polishers...Makita, Dewalt etc?
Also when would use this and when would you use a random orbital polisher?
Looking to buy one or the other or both.
Thank you

A Rotary tool, like the Shurhold Rotary PRO and comparable Makita, Dewalt, etc are designed to quickly correct gelcoat and paint through rotation of their large pads, hence the name. These tools will produce fast results (when used correctly). They generate a lot of heat, which is good for correction up to a certain point. If to much heat is generated, you stand to burn the surface you are working on. There is also a steep learning curve to the machine as it requires great balance and finesse to use properly.

A Dual Action tool, like our PRO and the Original, work by oscillation. That means the pad moves "out of round." This motion keeps the temperature down and prevents swirl marks, making it a much easier tool to use. Most detailers will do finishing work with a Dual Action Tool, but they can be used for the entire correctional process. I have used our PRO on some very beat up boats and loved the results.

In short, if you have experience with a Rotary and want quick results, it's a fantastic tool. If you are new to machine polishing and are looking for professional results, go with one of our Dual Action Tools.
