Dual Action Polisher Pro - rubber ring issue?

I have a dual action polisher pro machine that I bought online. Might be two years old now. I just noticed that there is a rubber ring with many holes in it located just under/behind the backing plate. 1/2 of this ring is pulling apart / coming off. Anyone have this issue? Doesn't seem to affect the performance however I probably have only used this truthfully 9-10 times. Just curious if anyone has experienced this with this model.

The rubber ring that's coming off is called a dust boot, and it is designed to act as a barrier to keep any sanding dust, compound, or stray wool fibers from building up around the female bearing inside the polisher housing. The machine will run fin without the dust boot and you shouldn't notice any negative effects from it being removed / damaged.
