Can you verify that the VUS021R is the G3 vision card? The G3 compatibility brochure off the Garmin website doesn't show the VUS021R map (California-Mexico) being a G3 card. It indicates it's only a G2 Vision HD card. Thanks!

Packaging on the card shows G3.

Gil --

Remind us again -- is it possible to load these charts to overwrite the built-in g2 charts on my 8617 and 7612 MFDs or do they always have to be in the card reader and read off the actual SD card? In the past, I've only used downloadable updates that will overwrite the pre-loaded charts. Thanks.

Gill --

Additional question, I've been using the pre-loaded charts and have been relatively happy, but looking to get one of the newer G3 for my twin 7612xsv units. Question: Do I need just one card or does each unit need it's own?

Thx

Any G2 or G3 Vision chart needs to remain the unit / card reader....they work independently of the preloaded charts.
The G2 / G3 cannot overwrite the factory preloaded charts.

Both the G2 and G3 Vision can be viewed on compatible chartplotters connected to the Garmin marine network with the use of a single mapping card.

This might be a stupid question but do the G2 and G3 cards have to be in the same unit? I have a 7610XSV already and another one I just got from you I haven't installed yet. Or can I have my G2 card and a back up/ screen shot card in one unit, the other unit will have the G3 Vision card and a blank for back up / screen shots.

If you have the G3..why even run the older and outdated G2?

Gil do you have any idea if the VUS011 charts go as far north as Yankeetown?

I see the northern boundary is just above Crystal River...but from limited info I currently have...... I cannot see if it includes Yankeetwon.
