Default 840 xs Radar Network 94 SZ echomap plus

Gil,

I purchased an 840xs from you in December. I am going to use that for the GPS and am going to add radar, the 18 xHD, which I think is the best radar for this unit. I understand that the Phantom will not work on 840xs, correct? I will need a steady cast heading sensor, I presume I will need an NMEA network for this. I have the room for a 94sv echomap plus with the GT 51 transducer. Is there a benefit to networking the 840xs and the 94sv? Am I missing anything? My boat has a bracket, on the transducer install locating this under the bracket, is that a good practice? Can I use the 94sv to create my own charts and then load them to 840xs? Also, can you PM me a price on this providing my thoughts on this package are sound.

With a future software from Garmin..the 94sv Plus will be able to network images..but only between other 94sv Plus units.

And yes, you need the NMEA 2000 for the Steady Cast.

You need a SD card to make and load Quick Draw charts..and that card then can be used with the 840xs.
But you cannot load those charts via any type of network directly to the 840xs from the 94sv Plus.

On the 840xs, I think I would like to use am Airmar P79 50-200hz 8 pin Shoot thru hull transducer. I have an existing in hull transducer that is connected to a Furuno GP 7000F where I locate the new transducer.
I will be getting 94 echomap plus with the GT 51 transducer. I am surmising I will get good readings out of the P79 based on the performance of the transducer hooked up to the Furuno currently. I am wondering if this combination of the chirp transducer and the conventional 50-200hz with pretty much cover me. I don't normally fish more than 100 feet, but do 1/2 dozen tuna trips a season.

I spoke with a Garmin rep at a fishing show and he stated the steadycast heading sensor is only accurate to within 3 degrees when overlayed on the chart for the 840xs. Is this information correct? Thank you.
