Hi Gil,

I have a 12 degree B75H that it's XID failed on me. It's 5200'd in place so its' not coming out
OK so school me on transducers.

B75H..............$499.
B75M..............$575.
B175H............$749
B175M............$795
B175HW..........$899.

.

I fish mainly for striped bass in 20 to 70' of water, though I do make 5-10 tuna runs per year in water normally around 200'. If I understand the H was NOT the right transducer it's too narrow a beam . I DO NOT wreck fish in NJ (Why bother?)

SO are my choices the B75M, B175M, or the B175HW? What's the difference in actual usage? I don't need to be able to clearly define the bottom. Does this mean I could just put in a B75M an be done with it?

Here's my electronic positioning. My only other choice is to go big with a 10 to 12" unit which can allow selection of chirp TD under sonar set up.

OK I'm going to go with the 1042 so I can get a bigger screen (and have radar capability for down the road). Just need to make up my mind on TD, probably just going 175HW. I'll order from you this week, thank you for taking time to go thru my 'issues', LOL

Are there any more of the original GT51-thru-hulls left or just the CV models?

Default transducer with fairing for GPSMAP 1042xsv

Gil,
Looking at replacing my old FF with the 1042xsv. I got my old transducer(airmar B744V 0' with fairing) out and would like to use the same or similar style of transducer at the same location since it worked so well with the old unit and I don't want to make new holes if I can re-use the old holes.

So, what transducer? I read the 1042xsv can drive a 1KW CHIRP like the B275LHW but also see there are 600W available for less$ like B765LH. Would these be a good choice?

I think I want to stay with airmar because I like the fairing putting the transducer face below the running surface, but would consider a GARMIN transducer if it did the same thing and gave better performance. Also want to consider if I could attach a second transducer to this unit later to get a better picture or side scan? Also open to other suggestions.

Boat:28 ALBIN TE
Transducer is slightly forward of midship on the starboard chine
Fishing mostly in 20-150' with occasional trip to the 30 fathom line

Thanks/Frank

The 1042xsv is a single band system...
It can use a B75,B175...
or the B785..which will retro into the B744 stem hole.

B175HW..1 kw traditional..but with a constant 25 degree cone...a very sensitive eunitl

Good Morning Gill,
Wanted to inquire about best Through hull to be paired with a 1042XSV on a 21' Contender.
I currently have a GT51TM and would like to see more definition and keep depth up to 900-1000'.
Currently I lose bottom around 500' if i cruise out slowly, and sooner if I am running faster, and also a lose definition when running over 20 kts.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Blake
