What will the screen look like? If I slowly move along a flat in 5'-10' will the sidevu show schools of speckled or white trout? Screen shots taken in shallow water would be very helpfull in helping me decide which sonar to get. Thank You.

I wish you could find out how shallow it will accurately read. The reason I ask this is because a while back I read on a forum from a guy that said he bought a new fish finder and could not get it to show depth below 5' or 10'(I forget which). He said he later found out that the unit was not designed to read that shallow. Like him, I often go back in some shallow marshy areas. I would like to have a unit that will read as shallow as at least two feet. Thanks for your help.

I just got my 7610xsv up and running yesterday and was playing around with various data bars and overlays and what not. The one thing I couldn't make go away was the semi-transparent plus and minus buttons and what I believe is the Shift feature button that is at the top of the screen in the center. Anyone know what I'm talking about? and if so, how do I get rid of that?

The middle button says Auto and the + and - buttons bracket it on each side. Pressing them performs the shift, I think.

Question Plotter waypoints?

I have a 94sv on order, thanks Gil. I have a lot of waypoints currently on my Garmin GPSMAP 540. When I zoom my chart out, the chart is virtually unusable because the waypoint icons clog the map. I understand that Garmin has worked on this, could someone post an example of a heavy waypoint area at different zoom levels?
Thanks, John

Here you go! I loaded up about 1500 waypoints for some perspective. The 94sv chirp is a great machine for the money and the plotter is as good as any. I have the detail set on "normal" as I don't like lots of clutter zoomed out. I'm still working through the software but my hopes are to find a setting that lets me turn off the icon #s. I prefer just icons alone.

Thanks for helping. Garmin manual is weak.
In Homeport I have all my waypoints and routs organized into folders. I noticed I had to individually copy each folder to SD. Once in 94SV I think they are all there but clumped into one folder.
Questions:
No folder options in unit?
Any way to turn groups of waypoints on and off? Maybe by symbol?
Does the symbol you assign in Homeport the actual symbol that shows up in unit?
Thanks for all replies, I have limited access to my boat and trying to master.

Congratulations
You have just discovered that Garmin waypoint management software is still in the Dark Ages. It would be interesting if a Garmin representative would explain why they refuse to add waypoint folders, a way to display only selected waypoints on the screen and allow waypoint names with greater than 10 characters.
