Shots of running twin Garmin 840xs side by side on the same boat.
On the left is a GT20 77/200 non CHIRP............on the right a CHIRP GT8W-TM

Just an interesting comparison.....as some have wanted to see the difference of a CHIRP in shallow water.

The GT8HW, GT22HW and GT52HW all have this same low Q full CHIRP element.

Does the CHIRP make a difference on the down view or side view?

It certainly does...

It is not only the CHIRP processing but the higher quality CHIRP transdcuer elements.

Awesome pics. Seeing those pics makes me glad I listened to you Gil and waited for the 94svchirp. The work should be all done on the boat this week. We are just waiting on the "y" connector from garmin to connect the 2 transducers. Do you have any Down vu / side vu pics you can post.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a echomap chirp 73sv and was wondering if I can expect the same level of clarity, especially with sidesscan.

So same transducer but different unit, so hard to say if the 73sv would be as clear then.

Not hard to tell at all.

The sonar circuit is the same regardless if one has a 73,74, 93 or 94 CHIRP echo map and the same transducer.

So what you see on the 74 or 94 will be basically the same as on a 73 or 93..if using the same ducer.

I have used them all..and they all are excellent.

Thanks for the info, I've been having a hard time deciding between the humminbird helix 9 si and the chirp 73sv. The helix 9 is a beautiful looking screen, but it's not chirp compatible and you need to upgrade to the 800kz transducer for the clearest side imaging. Think I'm leaning towards the Garmin.
