Default Looking for assistance

I have a Garmin GPSMap 7612xsv. I am new to this whole marine electronics area. I want to add additional transducers to my boat (I have the traditional transducer that came with the boat). I fish SE gulf off coast of Naples. I believe I have landed on adding the side-vu GT-30. What I am trying to understand is the tradeoffs between the thru hull vs transom. I understand the obvious regarding installation differences. Are their performance tradeoffs that make the extra cost and effort (and terror) of the thru hull versus the transom mount? Any help would be appreciated.

Also looking for any recommendations on installers in Naples area.

Thanks!!!

Either the thru hull or transom GT 30 will only work at speeds less than 10 mph.

If you have a non stepped hull..most use the transom.
