Actually not much to see on the deep shots most of the time...this shot is from the Garmin site.

To build on this comment.....these Wide units are indeed designed for shallow to mid water use....but can go far deeper.

Airmar rates this series as "Ideal for marking baitfish and game in shallow to mid-water depth of 300 to 600' ".
that is the depths to where one will get the maximum benefits of the wide High side of this series.

However when one gets past the 600' one will still get the same great depth and targeting capability as compared to the other non wide units if using the dual band wide series
When going deep...like past 1500' you do not lose total depth capability when using a B275LH-W because the Low side of both the B265LH and the low side of the B275LH-H are the same exact elements and thus perform the same.
But there is no benefit of the wide series at the greater depths....both units equal out because the low side is being used.

But in shallow to mid water...there is a marked benefit to the Wide series.
.

Starting on left is a B265LH..then the B275LH-W..then theB265LH and then the B275LHB

In a nutshell...if one does a great deal of fishing at and below the mid water range then a wide series may have added benefit.
But..
If one fishes mostly deeper water....such as starting at 400-500' and going far deeper then the normal LH or LM CHIRP units are the ticket.

Those were from the Furuno DFF1-UHD .

Earlier I had ones from the GSD-26.

Which Head Unit (MFD) was hooked up to your DFF1-UHD-------- TZT14 or Navnet3D?

Would it be a waste of money to pair the B175w transducer with the 547xs? I know the screen size is little. I am just wondering if it would produce significant improvement for the investment? Thanks for any feedback.

"for the investment"....
The terms investment and boats are not normally used in the same sentence while sober.
.................................................

Seriously.....

the 547xs and the larger 1040xs have the same basic CHIRP circuit so the target detection capability will be the same..regardless of the transducer used.

The screen size and resolution of the smaller unit does somewhat limit of course..but that will happen regardless of the ducer.

I have shipped a good many 547xs units with the standard B175 ducers..and think the B175W can also be a good choice....and later one can always upgrade head units..
This same B175W will be able to work with almost any CHRIP sonar on the market. if one ever wants to change etc.
