Default Damaging transducer if ON and on trailer.

I see a number of posts about leaving transducer ON while on your trailer will overheat and damage your transducer. FACT or FICTION or SUPERSTITION?

How good is Garmin transducer diagnostic? Does boat need to be in the water? What can it tell me other than it's the water!

Who makes the GT51M-TH for Garmin? I don't see it on Airmar site or anything equivalent. Airmar has excellent documentation and support documents. Garmin is let's say is "a little lite".

This is from a B175 HW Airmar. Pretty clear. I got lucky a few times.

I find this hard to believe but I respect your post. Whenever you power up your Garmin chart plotter the sonar module comes up transmitting. I saw no warnings on my Garmin install. I have been using Garmin GSD22 and GSD24 for 15 years without issue burning them up on land.

Most CHIRP transducers can be damaged if fired for extended periods while out of the water..especially the 1, 2 and 3 kw units.
The sonar portion of most units can be turned off in the settings of the units...so as to run the unit wile out of the water for extended times.

The GT51 is made by Garmin.

Your GSD 22 and GSD 24 are not capable of CHIRP.........and the overheating warnings are for CHIRP units.

Can the transducer diagnostics detect a damaged transducer?

Who makes the transducer for Garmin? No info from Garmin.

Garmin makes the GT51, and all their other side scan transducers.

Garmin MFD units area go or no go for transducers.......but to test for a damaged it takes outside test equipment
