Default Which Garmin MFD?

Ok so just about to order an 8612xsv, and see that Garmin has just come out with a new version of the 12" MFD, the 1243xsv. Whats the difference? I am only going to run one ducer if its a channel thing. The 1243 is considerably less. Also, only running one ducer, if I get a 1243xsv and connect it to a 943 (non xsv) at my aft helm, I'm good right? Wtf is this so complicated?!?!

Best price on all these units?

The main difference is the 8612xsv is dual band..and the 1243xsv is single band...so yes, if you are only using a single transducer..the 1243xsv is the better choice.
And yes the 743 is fully networkable to the 1243xsv.
And if you use a 743xsv you can add a second ducer at a later date if need.

Is the screen resolution the same? And can the 1243xsv still fire a 1kw airmar transducer?

Res.
1243xsv..1280 X 800
8612xsv....1920 x 1080

And the 743xsv, 943xsv and 1243sv all are 1 kw CHIRP.

Great read. Thanks for that, and answered my questions. Final one prior to ordering is a ducer question. If I want a thru-hull, high powered ducer that was the equivalent of a GT51 (Except in power, I want 1kw) which is my best option? I typically fish no deeper than 500' in salt, and want to maintain bottom and mark suspended fish as shallow as 50'. I'd like to hold bottom and mark fish at 25kts. I dont need to hold bottom any deeper than 500ft. I plan on running only one transducer, using traditional chirp 90% of the time, but would like to play with ClearVu when im in shallower. I really don't want to mount the ducer on my transom. Whats your highly valued suggestion?

If you are asking for a thru hull side scan of 1KW....there are none..only 600 watt.

What many do is run a Side scan on the transom and a 1 kw CHIRP thru hull such as the B175-HW..

.
Here is a link on the B175HW

Attachment 1123873

For clear vu..(down scan) that will be the GT23-TH.....it has a 600 watt CHIRP and a Down scan ( Clear Vu) element.
It has a 13" fairing...and in some cases just the element.

Thanks for the help, Gil. It's much appreicated. Last question, then I'm ready to order. Lots more jacks on back of 8612xsv than behind 1243xsv, which I don't think will be relevant to me, except for the audio jack thats on back of 8612 and 1243 does not have one. Still able to fun Fusion stereo through the 1243? or no? Whats your prices on these two units currently? And both available?

Yeah I only am going to run that 1kw airmar, so multiple ducer ports isnt going to be an isssue for me. Although, with two xsv displays, couldn't I run a second ducer to the toher unit and NMEA2k connect them? Either way, i am asking about that green colored jack in the upper right, marked AUDIO. Is this an input for the stereo in order to run Fusion display through the MFD if I want to? Can't it just run through NMEA as well? So I can stick with the 1243xsv??

The Garmin has a built-in HDMI audio splitter. By using the Garmin NMEA0813/AUDIO cable and connecting it to the green Audio plug, Sound from the HDMI source can be then directed to the AUX input of a compatible Fusion unit. As an added benefit to installing the audio cable, You can opt to have system alerts and alarms “shallow water, low voltage etc” broadcasted over your sound system with a human voice. So instead of just hearing a beeping off in the distance when you are sleeping, you can hear a voice alerting you that you have come adrift and your anchor is slipping.
