I have had many customers asking about certain side scan issues that the below information can resolve.

This Y-Cable works great with all 12-pin GT transducers – transom mount or thru-hull. You can pair up to two GT3x's, 4x's, or 5x's. The Y-Cable divides the signals out for you.
  • From the right-side transducer, it uses the traditional disc, Clearvü, Right-SideVü, temperature sensor and Garmin ID.
  • From the left-side transducer, it uses only the Left-SideVü.
  • The -00 cable is rather long, ~30’, so keep that in mind when routing cables.
  • The new -10 version is only 2m long and more suited for transom mount mount transducers.
  • Both cables have “PORT” and “STARBOARD” stickers on the ends to make it easy to connect up for each side.
  • No software setup required.
It is possible to use a mix of transducers, but, only certain combinations will work as described.

Examples:
  • GT30 on starboard (right) side with GT30 on port (left) side
  • GT34 on starboard side with GT34 on port side
  • GT36 on starboard (right) side with GT36 on port (left) side
  • GT40 on starboard side with GT 30, GT40, or GT50 on port side. All use the same SideVü elements
  • GT50 on starboard side with GT 30, GT40, or GT50 on port side. all use the same SideVü elements
  • GT51 on starboard side with GT41 or GT51 on port side. Both use the same SideVü elements
  • GT52 on starboard side with GT52 on port side
  • GT54 on starboard side with GT54 on port side
  • GT56 on starboard (right) side with GT56 or GT36 on port (left) side. Both use the same SideVü elements

12-Pin Transducer + 8-Pin Transducer to 12-Pin Sounder Part Number 010-12445-33.

Combine a Garmin transom mount scanning transducer with a Garmin or Airmar in-hull mounted transducer. Use this Y-cable to connect a 12-pin SideVü/Clearvü-only transducer along with an 8-pin 2D-only transducer into a single 12-pin (orange) port on a Garmin SideVü equipped sonar. This adapter cable allows compatible ECHOMAP, GPSMAP or STRIKER family sonar products to continue to display water depth from the in-hull transducer in instances when the transom mount transducer loses depth reading due to excess speed or cavitation.
.
Y-cable to connect an 8-pin 2-D-only transducer along with a 12-pin SideVü /Clearvü -only transducer into a single 12-pin (orange) port on a Garmin SideVü equipped sonar.
  • This cable only works with specific SideVü/Clearvü transducers. There are currently only three of those; the GT30, GT34, and the GT36UHD .
  • This cable also onlyworks with specific 2-D transducers. There are currently only 5 of those; GT8HW-IH, GT15M-IH, Airmar B60, Airmar P72, and Airmar P79.
  • Software setup is automatic with the GT8 and GT15. The Airmar transducers require a manual transducer selection.

NOTE: This Y-Cable will not work with any GT or CV all-in-one transducer like GT40, GT41, GT50M, GT51M, GT52HW, GT54HW not the GT56UHD.

NOTE: When using the 12-Pin + 8-Pin to 12-Pin sounder cable, user must manually select the transducer type they intend to use.

I have so many questions...

You mention that the 12/8 pin Y cable only works with certain transducers. So a Gt36 paired with GT15M-IH would get you a better traditional element versus running the GT56?
Would a transom mounted gt15 work? Its the same element and wiring...?
Any worries on the power output of the MFD, or can you only fire one transducer at a time? The gt36 and gt15 total up to 1100 watts?
You mention having to manually select the transducer type, is this an initial set up or a constant nagging selection?

Id like to run the gt36/15 combo on a 943xsv or 1243xsv until i decide how good side vu is going to be for me. If i love it and feel the need to run a second gt36, I could add another smaller MFD, possibly just and Echomap to run sidevu.
Or i just buy an 8610xsv...or a 943/743 pair to run everything....To many options!!! I wish i had the space to run two 943s, it just doesn't quite work.

The main purpose of these cable is to have sonar while running at speed where the transom may not have good results.

And yes, the GT15M...should give better results at CHIRP traditional...vs a 350 watt traditional.

One must select the ducer type manually each time one changes...you cannot run both at once.
