Gil what would a 1243XSV with a dome package be listed at? I currently have a 4212 with a GMR41 and airmar transducer that I would like to upgrade. The transducer is a couple of years old. Would this unit required a GSD box to plug the transducer into it?

There are several Garmin dome units,.....GMR18HD+, GMR18xHD, Fantom 18....which one are you interested in?

The 743xsv,943xsv and 1243xsv all have built in soanr..no black box required.

Thanks Gil. I’m going to check the radar I have and see if I can keep my current radar. The boat is in the keys so it will be a couple of days before I get back down there to check and will respond to your PM.

Gil is Garmin doing away with keyed versions? For example is the 1222 keyed being phased out? Keys being phased out?

The 1222xsv has built in sonar.

1222 is a Chart plotter only..no sonar

Hello Gil

We are looking at bottom machines now. we are looking at the simrad go12 with 3 in 1 transducer. We also looked at the Garmin ultramap 126sv. What are the main differences in the 1243 mentioned above? I do not see a transducer mentioned so we would need that also correct? Any other thoughts you have would be appreciated. We are thinking a 12 inch unit.

The Garmin 1243xsv is 1 kw capable, radar capable.

The Garmin 126 UHD is 600 watt and not radar capable.

Both can use any 6oo watt CHIRP ducer or both can use any of the Side scan ducers including the UHD ones.

The Garmin units ahve a wide range of side scan transducer options for these units...., GT41,GT50, GT52HW, GT51, GT54UHD, GT56UHD.

Most side scan ducers are best under 100'..for structure detail....and units like the GT51..with the Traditional element ...can see fish down to 500' and more.
