Default Update Electronics on 2011 Flats Boat

Gill,

I'm looking to redo the electronics on my Young 20 flats boat. It's currently running a Garmin 5208 with a GSD 22 and an airmar p79 in hull transducer. There is also an external GPS antenna and Sirius XM weather antenna on the poling platform. Everything is networked via nema. I guess it makes sense to stay with Garmin since all the components are Garmin, and the C moor charts seem to be the main reason to switch to Simrad.
The current machine is having trouble holding bottom at speed and I'm considering an upgrade to either 8610 or 7610. I would like to stay away from a transom mount transducer since the boat lives on a trailer, but realize to take advantage of the more sophisticated sonar functions that is probably not possible. Most of my fishing is inshore, but I do fish down to 150' pretty often. I really need to pick out structure on the bottom for diving as well. Price, while important, is not the principal factor in my decision.
Thoughts ? Thanks in advance for your help.
SM

If you do not need radar then you have several options.

For side and down scan....and thousands of trailed boats use the transom side scan transducers...

1)..Garmin 94sv UHD and the UHD transducer.
EchoMap UHD 94sv, MFG# 010-002343-01, with 9" color LCD, internal GPS and US Offshore g3 maps . Sonar: 500 Watts, traditional, CHIRP, and Hi-Def ClearVu/SideVu imaging. WiFi capable. Includes GT54UHD-TM transducer.

2) ..Garmin EchoMap Ultra 106sv, MFG# 010-02112-01, with 10" keypad-assist color touchscreen display, BlueChart g3 coastal and LakeVu g3 inland maps. 600 watts ..Builit-in CHIRP traditional, ClearVu, SideVu, and Ultra High-Def scanning sonar. Includes GT54UHD-TM transducer.
Can also use the Livescope LVS 12...as it has livescope built in

both of these are very good for structure.

Thanks Gill for the prompt reply. I like option #2.
What if I was willing to spend a bit more for a higher resolution screen and better processor ? I realize those units have functionality I do not need, but could you make a larger $$$ recommendation please ? Also, I assume any of these units make the GSD unnecessary. I would like to remove it as the under console space is really tight.

Thanks again,
SM

No GSD black box required...on any of the above units or the one here.

As to higher resz and processor you can use the 8610xsv.
