I could just about reach them at 6'1 but I had to go under a few low bridges son I didn't use them until I got to the inlet.

I would have no reservation about an Evinrude as long as I could get it serviced. Having said that, you might want to check Mercury as they are running a special promotion on their small motors.

I like PVC board. You can glue it to the console if you want or just screw it. Cleans up great, is less costly than Starboard and can be painted nicely if you desire.

Yes, I replace mine yearly. I like to pull them to see how the burn looks in each cylinder so I also put fresh ones in at that time. Also check the gap as it could have changed during shipping.
