Push the disengage button...Turning the wheel only disengages the unit for a few seconds. It would be a good ideas to read the owners manual.

Up here in the Northwest, we routinely fish in 6-10' seas in May and June. The Cat's I've seen out in those conditions don't do so well, and drifting beam too sucks in those conditions.
