What is proper way to lay fresh 1700 on top of old roving?

Do I wash the roving with acetone or denatured alcohol and mix up a thickened resin to fill the low spots and lay the 1700 like normal?

Laid 6 layers of 1700 as part of raising transom from 20" to 25". Ground back existing edge of old glass 1:12 etc. It all came out great. I'm using Epoxy (Raka 127 resin and 606 slow hardener).

Quick question on hull to side layup when replacing transom core

1994 25' SeaCat. Original wood transom removed. All core material, putty, filler, thru hull pads, and poor transom to hull side tabbing ground out. Will be using epoxy and 1700 for the repair.
