That is what I heard about them. 700 hours on average. They never make it to a 1000. Only on 300 and 350 motors. The 250 seems to be fine.

Cross your fingers. 300 hours is usually when they quit beacuse of bad fuel rails.

The hole will fill the cowl with exhaust and water and the motor runs like crap or quits. Plug it with JB weld and run it until craps out. You already have too much money tied up in it IMO.

Merc already has a bad rep. They have for decades. You don't expect that to come from Yamaha. Or the BB HPDI problems ,either. That what annoys everybody. If Merc does that, everyone thinks is normal.

Any fuel mist out of the air side is not good. One of the diaphragms is leaking. Or, fuel is blowing by the injector...

You check the leads in pairs, right? Not each to ground. No shorts to ground or between the pairs either.
This looks like the module is bad. Beacuse you find anything wrong with the trigger.

One of the CDM's may be failing. (dropped cylinder)
The top plug does not make noticeable difference at idle on this engine. Make sure the coil is hot.
