Why don't you try changing your trail recording...

Why don't you try changing your trail recording to TIME instead of AUTO? This will significantly reduce the number of trail points and you will know if it is that or the MFD itself.

If it were me, I would install the SternSaver...

If it were me, I would install the SternSaver just above the drain fitting on the pod and mount the XDCR to the SternSaver, The 3/4 thickness of the SternSaver should allow for clearance of the drain...
