I prefer 2 pumps with seperate switches/ ON-OFF and water witch bilge switchs wired direct to my house battery....this way I can pump manually if needed with my dash switches and auto if my battery...

As the others have said, swivel rod holders and inserts are not a necessity, nice to have but a good planer rod with a swivel tip will work just fine, I prefer a long bent butt if you're not fighting...
