Re: Bertram 28 Repower/Refurbish Information

Where is your B28? What model/year? What are you repowering from/to?

We have an '83 B28FB that we've significantly restored and repowered. Nothing custom, but she's sure worth the effort....

Re: Where to buy non ethanol gas near Pasadena?

Easton stations ARE pumping E-10. Some have even labeled their pumps to that effect. If you really want ethanol-free gas and don't want to rely upon the word of some bimbo in a booth at the gas...

Re: DEEP VEE Sportcabins

Sportcabin? Well, you might look at some 28' Berts. 23 degree deadrise at the transom. Huge cockpit. They're really big little boats.

Re: Some of what I do for a living

Folks,

The economics of ethanol are perilous, especially corn-based ethanol. The current ethanol fetish in the US is hugely dependent upon a taxpayer subsidy on domestically-produced ethanol of...

Re: Winter battery charging question

There are many yards that don't allow continuous plug-ins when the owner is absent during layup. Fire danger. You're lucky. I assume you're on the hard and have a good battery system and a really...

Re: Do You Carry an Extra Handheld Radio

Yes and yes and yes. Waterproof (well, we'll see) handheld fully charged, ditto for gps, flares, etc. And this is for bay trips, not on the blue.

Re: NOOOOooooo!!!

wmalloy,

You provide some interesting stats. Just in curiosity (and I don't have the mathematical or research skills to look this up), what if we compared the number of registered on-the-road...

Re: NOOOOooooo!!!

I see a higher percentage of idiots on the water than on the road, though it's a close call. I think we could all agree that taxation is a necessary evil, and then it's just a matter of who, how...

Re: Combing Pads

Do it your way, man, but it cost me about $400 for a shop to remove old coamings, fabricate new ones to my specifications, and install. Worth it to me. I could spend my own time on more important...

Re: In a sea of common uninspired boat names

I read about a guy who was so obsessed with his boat that his wife finally told him, "Get rid of the boat or else."

He re-named the boat "Or Else"

Re: 1968 Bertram 28'

Online, that's not a B28 flybridge or interior, to the best of my knowledge.

Re: 1968 Bertram 28'

makosteve is correct about the fiberglass fuel tank.....it's just a single, not two. I have a B28...a 1983. You're looking at one of the very, very early editions. It's likely some of the geat...

Re: 42 Betram repower

As a smaller Bert owner, I'm drooling too. Sure looks like a clearn install. We can close to giving it all up and buying a '42 a couple years ago. Nice work, man.

Re: Who's brining the bird this thursday?

Dear Friends,

Brining is the way to go, as long as you are serious about your bird.

First, get a real good fresh bird, no pre-basting.

Some of the brining forumlas above are very solid. The...

Re: Sea Trial Sunday - Need Confidence

There MUST be a good surveyor within a few miles of anywhere in Florida. Talk with local boat owners if you want one.

But you're the captain, man...and the check-writer. Good luck and best...

Re: Sea Trial Sunday - Need Confidence

You've received some good advice here. I would never, ever buy a boat (even a new one!) without a real survey....both mechanical and hull. A professional surveyor (your OWN, not the seller's) has...

Re: Star-tron question

Actually, Seaworthy Magazine (BoatUS) recommends the tank(s) be 95% full. So does every other reliable source I've consulted. If you're worried about phase separation (and I certainly do), then you...

Re: E-10 Were is it?

E10 is creeping South. The mid-Eastern Shore of Maryland got it for the first time about April 1 of this year. Fortunately for us, ethanol-free gas was still available on the Eastern Shore from...

Re: Bertram uses fiberglass fuel tanks? ethanol No-no?

54 Bert,

I was simply referring to the looks of the newer Ferretti-designed Berts. Older Berts have an almost unmistakable profile and persona, which I admire and enjoy. I have not taken a ride...

Re: E-Zorb...is this Ethanol Salvation?

Pri-G works for me. Better chemistry than StarTron.

Re: Bertram uses fiberglass fuel tanks? ethanol No-no?

You got it right, CB. If the old Bert hull is right, there's nothing like it. I don't recognize the new Berts as Berts.

Re: Fuel Additives For Winterizing

Used Stabil for years, Startron for a while, but now I'm a big fan of Pri-G. A bit nasty if spilled on boat or hands, but it has done very well for me.

Re: Battery Brand?

Eyeball, I agree.

We have the Rolls/Surrettes: Group 27 to crank each (inboard) engine, and a pair of deep-cycle 6Vs in series for the house. All isolated.
Never have to worry about cranking. ...
