Had similar issues on an old heavy Proline with twin 300 Suzukis. Raised the motors 1 hole (about 1.75 inches) and that made a huge difference in handling.

Man. I fought the 4-2 issue for over a year. It won (4 to 2 I think). Ended up with new 2017 Zukes. With the 07 engines, the problem kept returning, and I had the "1st gen" serial number engines....
