RE: TI30WLRSA or the TI50WLRSA ?

I agree with Nomans - you will be much happier with the 30!

RE: fish partner

I fish mostly out of Jupiter Inlet. I would enjoy the chance to come down and fish the Boca area. You are welcome to come and fish up here as well. Let me know.

RE: At What Point are Roller Guides Necessary?

I have a Calstar 700M with Lightweight Roller Guides (LWRGs) that I use with 65# spectra and 30# Momoi Diamond. I had the same concern about my knots having trouble going through the guides. When I...

RE: Rigging the TLDs

80# Power Pro has the line diameter of 20# mono. I had 500yds of 80# Power Pro on mine and still had room for either 200 yds of 30# Diamond or over 100yds of 40#.

The problem that I have with...

RE: ShimanoTLD VS. Penn KG

TLD - lighter reel - Shimano has awesome customer support.

24KG - heavier & stronger reel and frame.

If you are going to fish the reels with 80# test or above, lean toward the Penn. Lean...

RE: Rigging the TLDs

My .02

Spectra backing. Couple things to consider;
1) you only want to spend the money for braid like once every 4-5 yrs.
2) you want the braid to be stronger than the mono. If the line breaks...

RE: Best mono for 30 lb spinning (inshore/offshore)

The diameter of Momoi Diamond 30# compares with most companies 40#. I use Momoi Diamond on most of my reels. I also like the Sufix DNA line. IMO Momoi Diamond is the best combination of...

RE: Best grouper reel?

FYI - I forgot to mention there are probably more Groupers caught on the Penn 113H/114H and the Diawa Sealines than on all the more expensive reels combined!

So if you like nice gear...If you just...

RE: Rod and Reel for Stripers (Flipping Eels)

The Stradic is a great reel. I fish 17# on my stradic and have landed sharks up to just short of 5' with it and a strong leader. It was one of my favorite reels when I lived in NC and fished...

RE: Diawa Sealine V's Shimano TLD?

I think that the Diawa has the advantage in all but the ability to get the reel serviced and repaired. In customer service Shimano rules, in the ability to get the reel repaired at a local shop look...

RE: Best grouper reel?

I went through the same search earlier this year. There are a number of reels that I think are best in there $ class;

approx $100 - Penn 113H/114H, Diawa Sealine 400H - these are probably the...

RE: shimano torium 16 vs penn 525 mag?

I have several TOR20s and TN20s. The Diawa 20 & 30SHV reels will outcast them. I don't have a 525Mag, but have heard that it cast better than the Diawas.

The Toriums have more capacity, and a...

RE: Best Reel

The TN40 ($386) is tops IMO
PG540 ($285) is a lightweight reel that can handle 30# of drag
Diawa Sealines and Penn Senators ($100-150) are the best value
Torium ($150) are also good value reels...

RE: Versiltility of the TLD 20

I think you will find the Momoi Diamond 20# (.45) to be more abrasion resistant (bottom fishing & rubbing on the side of the boat) than the 25# (.45) Suffix DNA. The DNA will outcast the Diamond...
