We very seldom find any thing in the basket strainers. The problems are usually internal and that is where our machines allow us to ramp up the pressure and rpms to clean them.

Any fuel filtering never hurt, however polishing the fuel does not address the crap in the tank resting on the bottom. Your issues are IMPO is either related to fuel quantity or fuel quality.
