a switch maybe the way to go then. the yamaha rx-v1700 does three. its MSRP is 1300.00.

You give up somethings like independent source/volume control with only two zones, but sounds like zone2...

When you say three zones, do you mean Main + zone 1 + zone 2? or main + zone 1 + zone 2 + zone 3?

Also, just to verify, one of the zones is going to be HT right?

Some unsolicited advice, I wouldn't go with a speaker selector. A much more robust (and admittedly expensive) system would be to purchase a multi-room/zone receiver and enough channels to drive each...
