Re: Who likes their Raymarine DSM300

I ran 6 gauge wire in parallel with my boat's primary +/- lines from the battery area to the console switchboard which powers all my electronics. Did it as "insurance." Never once have I had a low...

Re: Anyone update their Raymarine c-series to 3.18 ?? problems..?

I updated and had to switch the battery off and then factory reset the C80. The "problem" with the C80 turning on isn't a problem, it's a feature. The C80 "remembers" it's state when you switched...

Re: Ray C-80 to Yamaha Command Link Interface

Illeagle (SIC) Illegal? What law would he be violating, please. I'd surely hate to have the Electronics Police pull me over and issue a citation because I often play with gadgets on the NMEA2000...

Re: GPS Antenna extension

Have you thought about wearing a tinfoil hat?

Seriously, I have two GPS sensors on my boat, both on a shelf under the top just behind the brow forward of the radome. One Raymarine, one Lowrance....

Re: How do I convert XY coordinates to a more common format

Here's some help. First define what X Y coordinate system is being used. Loran? Latitude/longitude are also XY coordinates.

Re: Connect Raymarine E120 to Lowrance LMF400

There are at least three threads discussing the LMF200 - C80 connection, some with photos. I don't have time this morning to search and link them for you - airport runs await a driver- but if you...

Re: Shortening Raymarine Radar Cable

I shortened mine to 13 ft. with no problem. Raymarine tech sent me a connector "kit" for the radome end. If you have the proper tools to safely remove the connector pin jacks and reinsert them you...

Re: Chain jumps on Windline urm-1

I agree with Warthog5 Too fast of a retrieve and it can bounce off the side. I stop as soon as the robe/chain junction passes the Windline, let it (the chain) unwind and settle out, and it never...

Re: None critical electronics question

Simple daffynition:

Abaft means behind. If it's not qualified, as in abaft of the mast, it means aft of the midpoint of a ship or boat.

For more detailed definitions, just google "abaft." ...

Re: Lowrance Extended Warranty - is it worth it?

AFAIC your better off taking the $180 to Las Vegas or your local Indian casino and playing the $5 slots for an hour. At least you'll have fun and free drinks, and if you're real lucky you could win...

Re: lowrance lmf200 stand alone?

On that I couldn't agree more strongly. I often longed for a "60 second" wait before the screen reverts to "normal" mode. The manual and procedures are far and away the most frustrating aspect of...

Re: lowrance lmf200 stand alone?

If your C-80 also has the RayStar GPS and is properly working with the latest software update, it is capable of sending position information to the LMF-200/EP10 combo via the Raymarine Seatalk2 bus...

Re: lowrance lmf200 stand alone?

Cookiemonster is correct and so is Firefly if he's referring to the Lowrance LGC-2000 GPS module, but even then the purchase of an LGC-2000 does not include all the parts to wire a NEMA-2000 bus.

RE: Yamaha or Lowrance fuel flow gauge

Yah, what Coop said. The 178c outputs NMEA183 not NMEA2000 so the Lowrance definitely wouldn't work for mpg. Ida No, my asian girlfriend says you'll have to check whether the Yamaha gauge will take...

RE: inexpensive fuel flow meter

Well, if you don't mind looking at an old thread, here's how I did it. (http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=104685&posts=19#M1115370)

It works great and lots of folks have...

Re: Canvas T-Top, GPS Internal Antenna

I have both a Lowrance and a Raymarine external GPS antenna mounted inside the pilot house on my C-Dory, on a shelf. Both work just fine under a 3/8" cored fiberglass roof so I would expect them to...

Re: urgent help re LMF400

I have to agree with Larry. Top of my short list of "things that could go wrong" would be the EP10. Too close to the separator isn't a factor. Mine is within inches of the separator.

Good luck...

Re: Ship to shore or battery charger??

Cheap portable chargers drink electrolyte. You either get away cheap on buying the charger AND pay for new batteries every year or buy a decent charger AND pay for new batteries every 3-5 years. ...

Re: Splicing a NMEA 2000 connection?

Yup, red & black wires = 12VDC line, Blue & white wires = data. If yer color blind, yer screwed.

RE: How may ray domes have been replaced?

Actually, Doug, I wouldn't be afraid to put any of the named radars on my boat, and if the Garmin radome wasn't so darn big I'd probably lean in that direction simply because they have decades of...

I wouldn't trust what anybody says on that forum or this one about comparative radome failure rates unless they were verified radar technicians with at least a decade experience servicing all of...
