5200 is not a sealant, it's an adhesive. If you use it, it won't leak, but you will never get the fitting out again without cutting it out. You might be better off using 3M 4200 instead.

There was a recall by Yanmar on the 6LY2A motors used in some Hinckley Picnic boats. I think it was for valve failures caused by overloading and the wet conditions of the engine compartment.
