Don't know about mid-Atlantic,but a charter captain told me years ago that mid-GOM is crazy good fishing of all types.Helluva run tho.

Thanks for the reply.That sinks about the commercial trollers for sure.S.Florida where I fish has strong currents as well but a 10 pound stick weight seems to do the trick.200-300 meters for us works...

Like the others have said cut the line as close as you can to the hook. Use carbon steel hooks as well so they rust,No Stainless.
