Re: What is the best 150HP Outboard?

The Honda 150, Yamaha 150 and ETEC 150 all produce at least 160 HP according to published dyno graphs. The only difference is power curve....

Re: Outboard Motors - Actual HP

Trey, the Honda 150 and 135 motors are the same except the 150 uses VTEC to achieve the added HP at higher RPM. The 135 has a solid 140 HP and the 150 has 160 HP but it comes at 6000 RPM.

Re: Prop Ventilation Problem... Cure?

I sold him the prop; it was almost new with no damage. This prop grips extremely well so I also suspect the thru hull fiting is creating tubulence which may be introducing air into the prop blades.

Re: Whats with Honda Marine? Not want to battle with Yamaha & Mercury?

That's strange, my wife's 3.5 liter 244 HP Honda Pilot gets a combined 20 MPG and it's EPA rating is 18/24 MPG.

It's funny that some people question Honda's commitment to customer satisfaction. If...

Re: Yamaha 150 4 stroke vs Honda 150, any real differences?

Bamaskeetshooter, the Honda BF150 and the Yamaha F150 both produce 160 HP. The BF150's sibling, the BF135 is the same motor as the BF150 minus the VTEC. It produces a solid 140 HP. It is a detuned...

Re: TTOP Hardtop or Bimini

My hard top is made of foam core and fiberglass. It doesn't way very much but is still heavier than a Sunbrella top.

Re: What prop are you running on Bf225 Honda

Rangerman, don't believe everything a sales rep tells you. The service manager at my Honda dealership has told me that Honda Marine has the right to deny a warranty claim on a motor which routinely...

Re: What prop are you running on Bf225 Honda

According to the specifications from the Honda Marine website 6000 RPM is the maximum you should rev your motor but I think short bursts to 6200 RPM should probably be OK. I would be worried about...

Re: What prop are you running on Bf225 Honda

Sure it will top out at 6200 RPM with a given prop but why would you want to exceed the maximum recommended RPM? Your ECM stores all the data from your motor including how many RPM you turn and how...

Re: What prop are you running on Bf225 Honda

rangerman, I do not believe you will be able to reach 6200 RPM with a 19 pitch prop on your boat. That would equate to 56 MPH factoring in 6% slip. If you want to achieve 6200 RPM (which is 200 RPM...
