2004 Yamaha 150 4- Stroke High RPM

I need some help from the great Yamaha mechanic brain trust please. Have a 2004 150 4-stroke and when I start it, it immediately revs to 3,000 rpm and I can't slow it back. I've checked the throttle...

RE: Should I be paying for this?

Chris,

Stop the madness ! Stop feeding the dealer's habit.

Furuno should be contacted and become involved at this point and I recommend reviewing the warranty details from your dealer & Furuno...

RE: Marking spot on Lowrance LCX 111GPS

No problem JoJo...

Just an FYI to the group. If your GPS 2000 module (the GPS antenna that came with the 110c and prior models to a certain model year) ever goes out, Lowrance cannot repair it as...

Re: Marking spot on Lowrance LCX 111GPS

I don't have the 111c but I do have the 110c and I press the Waypoint button twice to mark the spot. If the cursor is coming up (not sure why myself) press the Exit button to get out of cursor mode. ...

Re: VHF recommendation

SEA is one of the finest SSB radios made today. They work and they're reasonably priced.

Re: VHF recommendation

Swirler's absolutely dead on right.

Do not even consider any other brand but ICOM or Standard (which is made by Yaesu). I'm a ham radio guy besides a fisherman and own their ham radios along with...

RE: Fishfinder help

I would recommend looking at a Lowrance sounder/fish finder. Their units are great and Lowarance got it's start in the sounder/FF business. Defintely worth considering.

RE: Anyone using synthetic oil in their Yamaha 4 strokes

speckbuster,

I run a charter boat with two 225 Yamaha 4-strokes and I've run Amsoil since new. They make a specific 4-stroke marine oil in either 10w-30 or 10w-40 depending on what your manual...

RE: help..... sticker shock....... 50 amp shorepower cordset

finadict,

Costs have surged on 50 amp cords for sure. Wholesale costs have gone way up too believe me. However, unless you need 50 amp service, simply get a 50-30 amp adapter pigtail and plug it...

RE: Recommended Radar for shrimp boat in Gulf

I recommend Furuno for the boat. I also agree with the others concerning a minimum 24 NM range. If you can swing it, I would go with the 4kw models. Better/stronger signals mean better target...

Geowh,

I've run both and own both now. I can tell you from experience the bronze ducer will always outperform the shoot thru the hull angled element. The bronze is immersed in the water you're...

RE: cat v cummings

m13s,

Cummins is the way to go. I've owned several makes of diesel and all were OK but Cummins would take the abuse. One example I ran the old 555 Cummins, or "triple nickles" in a 1978 Post 42...

RE: Airmar P79 for Lowrance

You can order and get a P-79 for your unit from Lowrance. It's a simple install and works good for the intended purpose. Be sure you have a good place to mount it. Avoid the voids in the...

mt,

Try a master reset on the unit. Be sure you save everything to the chip before you do anything.

RE: Radar

p dock,

Yea, the 1623 is a fine stater unit. It very reasonably priced and does a good job. There are limitations to the features but, it will work just fine for you.

RE: new boat electronics

Offshorebri,

Nope, Raymarine was manufactured by JRC for several years which isn't that unusual. For instance, Lowrance radar is actually Koden and good radar.

tx,

I run the 110C on the Gulf out of Matagorda and I haven't experienced what you describe. Call Lowrance and see what they say. You can email them as well.

RE: new boat electronics

Albie,

Forgot to mention...

2kw vs. 4kw radar....Open Array vs. Dome...

Inshore only ? Save your $$ and go 2kw dome.

Offshore too ? Spend the $$ and get 4kw. Now, dome or open array ?...
