Re: Airmar m260 install questions and temp probe selection

I bought and installed an M260 sometime around the spring of 2004. I used 4200 to glue mine down. It has worked just fine and hasn't lost a drop of fluid (mineral oil) since it was installed.

RE: 1kw transducer vs. 600w. Worth it?

I have an M260 in a boat that gets use similar to yours, maybe even the same waters. I have used it for years, thought not recently, out of Oregon Inlet.

Here is what I went through to come to...

Re: re-install a loran or sell it?

If I thought I could get $10 for it I'd sell it, otherwise it would hit the trash can as fast as I could get it there. I say that as I guy who has owned his fair share of LORANs but wouldn't have...

Re: temp guage

I believe it means "Want To Buy". As you undoubtedly know Dytek is a company that makes good temperature guages for boats. It would appear J Floyd wants one. I wanted one once too. Not so much...

Re: fcv 585 and m260

I've got a 582L with the M260, I'm thinking about selling the 582 and picking up a 585. I'm not real sure its worth the money difference to me so I've been holding off.

Oh, to the question above,...

Re: Open battery trays v.s boxes

A couple of hints:

If you use a battery box drill several small holes in the bottom of each box for drainage. The boxes I've bought have not had drains and over time most of them that have not...

Re: Should a radar arch be grounded? VHF problem

On instructions from Raytheon (it was hidden deep inside one of their excellent manuals) I have always electrically isolated radar mounts, that is to say that not only do I NOT ground radar mounting...

Re: urgent lat/long question

Hold on a moment.

There are a couple of ways to express the same point on a chart. Let me show you three and see if you might be confusing two of them.

The first would be to simple name the...

Re: Transducer Question

At first it seems that you have a problem with your display unit. You did not say if this was happening when the boat was under way or not but I presumed it was, although not at any great speed. In...

Re: Which transducer would you choose?

Te M260 will clearly perform better. The question is are you willing to pay for the increased performance in that shallow water when what you have already is very hard to beat?

As a person who...

Re: suggestions for 1kw bottom finder setup

You get your temperature and speed from a separate low profile thru-hull unit. It connects to the transducer cable by way of a Y-cable. The last one I bought, in Bronze, cost me $225 delivered. ...

Re: Furuno 600L temp problems

Clutter?

Your problem has nothing to do with your transducer placement or orientation. All it really had to do is point down to work and you can miss that by a good bit in any direction. The...

Re: Looking for Hand Held GPS Recommendation

That button spacing works well when you are using the units.

I've had a GPS-12, which got me hooked on Garmin.

Then I had a straight GPS-76. I wanted mapping so I got rid of it.

Then I got...

Re: Furuno 600L losing bottom and interference

Drop the transducer down six inches - well, not that much, but whatever it takes.

The reason you lost bottom in rough water was that the transducer lifed out of the water. No water no echo. When...

Re: Need Fin Nor Expert

Re: Shallow water performance with 1kw M260?

I do not know how to explain the way a M260 will work in 300-700 feet other than to say that it is very hard to immagine a depth range in which it would work better. Virtually everything that is...

Re: Furuno FCV600L Transducer Options?

An imnportant thing to know on the replacement transducer is that it has to have 10 pins, not 8. In the standard transducers, be they transom mount, in hull (tilted or not), or thru hull they will...
