yes - I would likely want to replicate what I have on my transom. The goal would be less noise on the screen from the outboard, and just an overall better quality image.

Thru Hull vs Transom mount transducer

I have a 22ft Robalo with a Simrad NSS7 evo2 and had the total scan transducer mounted to the transom. Worked ok - until the transducer cut loose of the mount and I lost it to my prop.

I've been...

first off - thanks to everyone for their opinions and experiences - very helpful. I agree that it's a good to have - close to a must have. If I come up with a few extra thousands, I'll spring for...

agreed - just made me think. I like the idea of having it - definitely 'safer' to have it. But I'm wondering if i'm nuts for not having it - just always seemed like a nice to have, not a must have.

Radar - Worth the Expense?

If money was no object, I'd have radar on my boat. I fish mostly inshore, and rarely motor at night. Last week I was stopped by the marine patrol motoring across the bay on a very clear night, very...

Costas - Try Electric

I've had Costas and they've lasted me for over 10 years. Beaten up, yes. Ugly, yes. But I'm fishing - not trying to win a fashion show. Lenses are still in ok condition.

That said, my local surf...

Fished north side of bay this morning just as the wind picked up. Saw birds working, and water busting with bait. Oddly, there were 100s of cormorants all over the bait. I was reluctant to cast into...
