RE: New tires for my truck

LTX M/S are great tires but keep them balanced. I let mine go too long and now they roar.
Inside edges scalopped (sp). 30k and plenty of tread left. I'll turn the radio up louder.

Swim Platform

Friend gave me a swim platform. Placement is flexible.
Question. What is the best level to put it? Some are saying even with the scuppers. Others are saying a bit higher. How deep should the one...

Re: beaufort to cape lookout

Funny story. Wife fell asleep in bow coming down Taylors's Creek heading to the Hook. Since we going slow, it was fairly close to high tide and the wife was still asleep I went nearly straight out...

Re: boat beaches morehead area

Most of Shackleford is pretty deep right off the beach. If you get too close to the inlet the tidal current can get hairy. Further east (beyond the jetty and dock) is better but on the weekend it...

RE: Concealed Weapon of choice

Gee, maybe I'm a cheap skate, but I'm not putting that kind of money into something that might be dropped overboard, lost stolen or whatever. I carry a Romanian Makarov w/ Hornady Custom...

RE: Concealed Weapon License

One cool thing I found out is in NC you can buy a pistol w/o a permit w/ a CC. I had a permit to buy my wife ( we toke the corse together, it was her idea) a Kel-Tec .38 for Christmas but didn't...

Broken Skeg

In my haste to secure my boat for the hurricane, I forgot to tilt up my motor before I tried to back it up a driveway. That crunching sound was the tip of my skeg breaking off. It looks like it could...

RE: Viper Boats

Btucker's right, that's the Pitt Co. NC outfit. They started w/ the smaller CC boats. The ones I looked at were in Farmville NC and looked good from a distance but were very, very rough in detail. ...

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just send it off and see what happens. It's good to know there are folks out there willing to help. Thanks again.

Bob,
It's a L365. I know it's not top of the line but I'm familiar with it.

Price for Sea Fox 230

It's not so much the boat but the reputation of the builder.

Fish Finder; Repair or Get New?

I've got a older Apelco model that came on my boat. It has worked fine so far. This weekend one of the prongs that goes into the power plug broke off. I called Raytheon but after 15 min. on hold I...

Sea Fox 257 Purchase

Gary A,
Have to agree with somethin-fishy. As a former owner of a Renken I thought it was OK until I compared it to other similar boats. Ask Sea Era owners about thier warranties. These folks have...

Single or Double Axle Trailer

Warthog,
I have to disagree on Buddy Bearings being junk. They are all I've ever had, and when cared for properly really couldn't be more reliable. They are easy to change, (I helped a friend...

maycraft boats

Mine is a '98 model w/ a '90 110 Evirude. MarkA told me this motor puts out around 120hp so it compares to a 115. Most dealers put 90hp on them, but a 115 would be better. Tops out @ 42mph (GPS) w/ 2...

maycraft boats

OK, I've got a 18' Skiff (see maycraftboats.com
web site). It's a lot of boat for your money. Not fancy or fast (low HP ratings). It's perfect for me, inshore, sounds, rivers and creeks. I would...

Towing w/Toyota 4Runner

While I tend to agree w/ J.B. about tow weights I also agree w/ Bay beater that Toyota underestimates thiers by a fair margin. I pull around 2700# w/ a '98. It rides smoother towing, doesn't sag,...

Towing with a Toyota Tundra V8

I've tried to not post too much, but I have to say that every time we've strayed off the Toyota Plantation we've regretted it. I'll never have a boat bigger than my 4Runner can pull, my wife's Avalon...
