Re: The Reel Story - My Bertram

How much did they pay you to keep things under wrap? Haha... just kidding. But to pay a couple mil to have that happen. If you ran that boat in waters I fish... you would be saying otherwise. You...

Re: Two Pit Bulls Kill Lab

Pit Bulls are bred as fighting dogs. It is in their genes. Just like a sheepherder almost instinctively knows what to do. I love Pits, I love Germans, I love Akitas. They are bred for certain...

Re: Shimano Tiagra or Penn International

Good choice. We have caught a lot of Ahi up to 180lbs on the 50 WLRSA and even some small marlin up to 200 or so pounds and they don't even hiccup.

I tinker and work on these and you made a...

Look for a friend with one of the Avets first. Some like them and some don't. My setup consists of all Avets because they are good for the price. If I could afford the smoother Accurates, thats...

Re: How big were they...

Wow... that looks like the same kind of weather we fish here in our 19 foot skiffs. I guess we are crazy like those South African fisherman in those catamarans launching from the shorebreak.

Re: Towing with a 4 cylinder Nissan Frontier?

It'll work but your truck will take some punishment. The 143hp 2.4 will need to take some revs to keep going and shifting to the next gears will result in lugging the truck once you have upshifted. ...

Re: Looked at the 50VSW today at West Marine

The stainless drag arch and some other parts start to stain immediately. Shows rust instantly after one session. Poor choice in material in construction. The drag button fouls and the button gets...

Re: Penn 113HSP for wahoo

Greased carbontex will increase your drag life and drag poundage. Like Ken T posted above, you can definitely get more drag with just a little persuasion. But then other parts of your reel will fail....

Re: Penn 113HSP for wahoo

After 30 or so Ono (wahoo)... the drags on the 9/0 will be welded together. The small size of the drag doesn't hold up well to the long, vicious runs of them. A lever drag reel of the same size is...
