I agree with the front mounted hitch, Back her in to "close enough" and then you can angle the front of the truck clear of the side and snug the boat right in there.

That looks like the cap for a plastic 55 gallon drum. Not something I would think you would use anywhere on a boat.

My guess it was dropped in there by someone doing maintenance at some point....

I removed them checked all wiring and connections and now both work perfectly again. Made 5 day trips last week and all performed well each trip.

I think they came from the factory with a 15 foot chain and 200 or 300 feet of rope. You can add more but I would think 15 of chain would be plenty.
