Mostly 3,5-10 oz depending on the current. In the sound I'm fishing, the current can be very strong To be able to keep the bottom You sometimes have to use 10 oz , even if the depth is max 100 feet.

Tell me about Penn Senator rods

I've never used regular glass rods. If I'm used to a #30 carbon rod, how would a 20-40 lb Senator rod feel in comparison. In general.

I plan to use for cod bottom fishing.

I have to order from...

Stronger backing. Why?

Is there any point in using , for example, #100 Backing for an #80 mainline?

I have six battles, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6000. Havent had a single issue with any of them. The 5 and 6000 are frequently used in saltwater.
My next spinning reel will probably be a battle 7 or 8000.

I might have underestimated the size. #150+ ain't uncommon.

So perhaps I should go for 80 lb braid backing, 80 lb mono and 80 lb fluoro leader?
Unless the rod itself is too soft at 30-80 lb?

I think it will be mostly baiting.
I will not cast, so a 5,6 ` will do, but the Penn Vs doesnt come in that length. Thats why I asked about the TRQ jigging rod.

A light rig i also my goal.
