Interesting! The only time I have an issue is when it's warm/hot outside. When I boat in early spring when the weather is cooler and the water is cold, no issue at all.

It's a Mercruiser 3.0 and I assume it hasn't been reconfigured. The lines run right next to the head cover and side of the block, so I assume they probably get pretty warm. They're pretty warm to the...

How How Should the Head Cover be?

Took the boat out today. Most everything was fine, but I realized the head cover (Merc 3.0) was pretty hot. After running for about an hour, I could touch it, but couldn't leave my hand on it for...

A - It'll turn over, but slowly. I've only kept the key turned for 6 or 7 seconds. Kind of like it was hard to start/too heavy is really on the only way I can explain it. From what I've read...

I bought a new marine deep cycle battery this weekend and took the boat out for a few hours. We cruised for...

The upper portion of my outdrive is a SEI with a 1.65 ratio. It's on a 3.0l 4-cyl mercruiser. Boat is a 176 Sea Ray.
The upper has gone bad and I think its a bearing because the shaft that comes...

Right, that was the plan. But I'm pretty sure there is a grease hole at the front of the spindle. Should I get that old grease out of the spindle first?

The dry weight of the boat is 2100 and the trailer load capacity is 3400lbs. The tires are 205/75 R14.
Would you recommend going with the 1500lb spring, or something with a little more capacity?

I'll see if I have any scales around me. The 1500lb springs would be fine since that equals 3000lbs, right? I can't imagine the boat is 900lbs heavier than the spec weight...

Thanks for the info. I figured that was probably the case. The dry weight of the boat is 2100 so do you think the 1500lb springs are fine when you add in fuel, toys, and such?

25w40 or 15w40?

I know some purists stick with 25w40, but I've heard 15w40 blend is good too. What are your thoughts? It's going in a 1984 Mercruiser 3.0L 140.
