I think additives have been discussed adnauseam so you won't find a definitive answer. That being said I personally use Yamaha Ring Free fuel additive because it is the manufacturers recommendation...

Had a 1994 17 Proline,loved it! Great starter boat. I believe in 95 they went to no wood construction. Should go pretty good, I think mine hit 44mph with Johnson 115.

I don't believe this is true. The Y valve is needed if the toilet direct discharges, if it flushes into a holding tank where it can either be discharged or sucked out a Y valve is not needed.
