Default WTB 80CF Scuba Tank

Looking to buy my son a scuba tank. Can pick up anywhere from Palm beach to Key Largo. Would like one that is current on all inspections and ready to be filled.

If you or someone you know is selling a 80CF tank, please let me know.

Additionally, avoid owning any Luxfer with hydro stamp date older than 8/88 as this alloy should be sold for recycle scrap. Many dive shops refuse to fill these as they are a safety concern.

I will check Craig’s list out. Thanks for the info on the dates.

Agreed with what Gene said, but I'd expand that to Catalina as well. While Catalina did not use the 6351 AL that is the reason for avoiding those older Luxfers, they may still prove difficult to get filled. Some dive shops are up on the details, others are not. I've heard that some won't fill any aluminum cylinder dated prior to 1990. I don't really blame the dive shops for taking that stance, after all, it's their shop and their employees which could be put at risk for a $12 fill.

Just something to think about. Maybe check with your local dive shop to see if they will fill an older Catalina.

I had 2 split while filling in my dive shop. The electronic test machine sold by a Luxfer subsidiary company, used to test for cracks, led me to condemn about 40 of my own rental tanks. And a truck load of these bombs went back to Luxfer. They successfully avoided an industry wide recall.

No reputable shop will fill the old crappy alloy tanks anymore.
Nobody hurt in the shop I hope. I imagine you folks have fill tanks.

I have 2 AL80s in current hydro and VIP for sale if you want them. Currently both filled with 32%

I have them listed on the "South Florida Dive Gear" facebook group. I'm down in Pompano if you are still looking for tanks.
