I have this old latch that I "inherited" some years ago.

Thanks Teasin, received it yesterday, sending it out for chrome plating tomorrow.

That's a latch for the old original Float On trailers from the 60's. Had that on my first boat and loved it. But finding the trailer part might be more difficult.
