Could you explain the difference between the DP250, DP250SS and the DP250AP? Know of any performance numbers for a Grady White Marlin 300 with twin 250s?

The DF250TX is a 3.6 liter engine with mechanical controls available in 25" or 30" shaft in white or nebular black
The DF250SS is a 4.0 liter engine with mechanical controls available in 20" or 25" shaft in nebular black or matte black
The DF250AP is a 4.0 liter engine with fly by wire controls available in 25" or 30" shaft in white or nebular black

That boat should run about 40mph or so with 250's, not the fastest boat on the water, its a beast. The 300's would be a little better suited.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I am not concerned with being the fastest boat out there. Does the 4.0L DF250AP motors have better performance than the TX 3.6L? Unfortunately I cant put 300s on the boat since the hull is only rated for 500hp. Whats the weight difference between the 3.6L mechanical controls and the 4.0L fly by wire?

The 250 fly by wire is only 20 lbs heavier then the 250 mechanical. They are both similar in power because they also have different gear ratios, my personal opinion is get the fly by wire, its super smooth all the time and comes standard with color digital gauges for only a couple grand more. The 250AP also has lean burn technology so it is more fuel efficient.

I might be looking to repower soon my 29 Sea Vee. I have 225 optis and I want to know which motors would be similar in weight and performance?

Hello, I have done quite a few of these rigs. The 200 Suzukis work well on that setup, it gets you low to mid 50's top speed and the weight is 500lbs per motor so a little less then your opti's. If you go 225 or 250 mechanical controls you are 580 lbs and will be high 50's pushing 60. Twin 300's are 600 lbs each and gets you into the 60's. My personal preference would be the 200's, weight is right and it won't destroy the boat, the others motors sit a little heavy and put a strain on the hull, it wasn't set up for the big 4-strokes even though they do work and many have done them. Mike are the 200s fly by wire? Also what is the price difference between the 200 and the 225?

As many will post here, these guys are the best. Once I decided to put a 300 on my 26' Proline, I was surprised at the great service. Every question answered either by text, e-mail, or call. The installation was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Also, they have very good prices on oil, filters, etc. They will be my go to if I ever sell my current boat and need a repower.

Which SeaVee 29? Older 29 or newer 290B? Mike is the expert but no way I would want a pair of 200's on the 290B.
The newer 290B has no problems with the DF300AP motors. I repowered with them in early 2016 and there are no issues with weight at all. The boat is an '06 and the DF300's replaced a pair of DF225's. Performance is great too.

The 200's you can get with fly by wire or mechanical. The 225 only comes mechanical. I will PM you some pricing

Hi, I have 2006 WC 320 EC. It’s rated for 300s and I have suzuki 250s now. I want to repower with the 350s. Have you guys done this on a similar boat?

WC 320 EC is heavy boat. Don’t know why they only rated to 300.

I have not done 350's on that boat or similar other then some freemans. If I remember correctly worldcat was particular about the transom, I believe we had to reinforce one before in order to handle the 300's according to the factory. Some knee braces were required.

i also have a contender 23 open 2003... currently with a 2003 yamaha 225 four-stroke.... considering a re-power to zuke 300 or 350.... transom is rated for 400hp. from the factory(2-stroke i think).. please give me some prices. thanks.
