Default Suzuki SMIS 4" round gauge issue?

Mike,
The buttons do not work anymore except the menu button. If I shut the engine down it reverts to the fuel flow page, but I cannot get to any other pages.
Can I do a reboot?
What do you think is wrong, is it the input from the engine or the gauge?

If the gauge is not responding to button press, then its a gauge issue, not an input issue.

I would suspect that its a mechanical issue with the gauge buttons and therefore probably terminal. In that case, replace with another SMIS or with a C-10, it fits in the same hole.

However you could try doing a reset on the gauge, just in case its a gauge software issue. As follows, its the same procedure as for a Lowrance LMF400.

LMF 400 Reset
1. Turn Unit off (eg turn engine key off)
2. Press and hold the DOWN button
3. Turn unit on (activate power to NMEA network or connect unit to operating network)
4. Release DOWN Button after Test screen appears.
5. Turn unit off (disconnect power to NMEA 2000 network or remove unit from network)

This reset will wipe out anything you've done to configure your gauge, custom pages, contrast, backlighting, etc. and defaults it all back to the original settings.

Good luck. Please let us know if it gets your gauge working again.

I'll try this and let you know what happens.
BTW this is for a 2008 Suz 250 twin, the other gauge still works fine

Weird thing happened today,
Was moving the boat due to possible hurricane in Florida and I hit the page button and it works perfectly.
So probably an intermittent issue.
What do you think?

Maybe some trash/salt buildup behind the button? Could be poor wiring connection internally that reconnected?

Impossible to say.

Good luck, hope it keeps working!

I ht those buttons at least a thousand times with no response from the gauge. Originally , when it started to fail, it took two or more hits to make the page button work. Electrical gremlins I guess.
