Default 93 Suzuki DT225 running rough

the last week has been a cluster$#$# and I'm looking if anyone can give me some advice. last thursday took boat out for about an hour ride, everything ran perfect. went and fueled it up for a trip the next day. That night as I finished packing, I cranked engine, wouldn't spin flywheel. checked everything over, found started bad. (Ordered replacement, but that came today and it was the wrong part in the box.) so we pulled the started and broke it down and cleaned it up, tried it, and still didn't work. So I said the heck with it, let me just try pull starting it. Did that, and it fired up, but is running REALLY rough. surging, doesn't want to stay running, or almost stops running, when at no speed. Idling up, it seems to clear up but the RPMs are still bouncing a little. thinking it might be water, I drained my water separator, none. Drained the strainer bowl on the engine, nothing. Replaced filter anyway, no change. Changed plugs since its been a year or so since they were changed, no change, still surging. pulled high pressure fuel filter, didn't seem to be much of anything coming out with the gas, but going to get one of those tomorrow anyway.

any ideas as to where I should start looking? I'm going to have to make up a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow I guess so I can verify that the pump and pressure regulator are functioning properly.

here is a video i took since its a better description than words.
