Fooling around today, trolling 4 miles offshore looking for that nearshore tuna I saw last Sunday. Running 3 lines, keeping it simple, by myself...running my brand new custom made chatter lure bar... no tuna but brought in and released this 47lb Striper!

still fishing . 75 feet of water..starting to mark life.. who knows..maybe I'll get lucky.. south of fire island lighthouse running east.

No near shore / inshore tuna for me. Got that one bass on the troll, a few sea bass on the jig and a 25lb striped bass on the pods 50 ft of water, south of ocean beach. Seas got nasty we that easterly wind...

A little off topic but figured this was the best place to get the information out. west marine west islip has ACR survival kits for 50% off if anyone is in the market. They have 3 on the shelf as of a few minutes ago. Regular price is 299$

Cleared inlet at dawn, was like a pond, ran way east to breach tons of happy bunker
Not the nervous type with fish on them
Jumped from pod to pod til 8:30 not a touch
Didnt see a fish caught while I was out

Headed out at 5:45. East wind started, so decided to stay inside. Released a few weaks, one reall nice one. Bite shut down when fleet went from 4 boats to 10 boats and guys running thru the fleet on plane to resart their drift.
Few fliuke drifts yielded several shorts and infinity sea robins.

Left the Marina at 7am yesterday ran out to the ocean and trolled 25-30' of water and just had one Mojo bit off. After a couple of hours the bunker pods surfaced and I worked from pod to pod - nothing on them no nervous pods no bunker spraying. Easterly wind was Honking so ran back to Sore Thumb for a BBQ

I had not been out since early last week when the bass were hot. Between the wind, work, etc I just have not been out.

Saw a little window tonight to poke around in the bay even though it was really windy. I found BIG bluefish schooled up and crashing bait by the second RMB- they looked like bunker. Had bluefish on ever cast pretty much 12-18 lbs. My tackle bag was on the other boat so I was fishing with flouro instead of wire leader- I wrecked a lot of stuff, even though I was fishing a single hook popper.

Pretty fun - left them biting.

Went out first light. Ran out of fire island inlet and in moriches inlet. Plenty of bunker no fish for us. Perfect conditions. Didn’t fish too hard had to get to work.

Fished the bay from the lighthouse to the inlet. A few short fluke and 1 blue. Caught the start of the incoming.

Caught some weaks this morning. I thought it was going to be a sick bite once the tide got going but they disappeared in a hurry.

Skipped the weaks this morning. Scoped out my fluke spots to see if any fish have moved in. Few shorts at end of incoming, then nothing.

Default Finally did it!!

What a fun morning..
Shot over early and popped a few weakfish.
Nice group of guys working the school very polite boat handling...refreshing to say the least..
Then headed to RM bridge and got silly with light tackle blues around 5 lbs. After enough for my niebors head towards the sore thumb and jigged up a short fluke. At this point about 9 am I realized I was 1 more species from what I call a "Grand Tour" so I shot over by the CG station with my snap jig set up and work the very end of the tide. About 12 cast in working tight to the seawall I brought in a 20" striper. I know not exactly epic but I've been trying to pull this off for like forever. Striper, blue weak and a fluke all targeted not by accident.
Sometimes it ain't about the most or the biggest.
And yup I went home happy 100%

Spent from about 6 to 8 poking around last night, a few drifts by CG Station and around the bridge, some casting at birds by the RMB and then some drifting and casting closer to DEMO. Nothing for me.

I did take a ride out into the ocean, straight out the inlet from the head buoy, the ocean was flat. I was looking to see if the BFT were still around 80 feet of water. Around 70-75 feet of water I ran into the elusive bunker schools that everyone has been looking for...a few pods getting beat up. I did not spend much time there, it being way outside the 3 mile line...and it was getting dark.
