Default Nj Boat Expo or Atlantic City Boat Show?

Which one are you headed to?
Pros and Cons of each?
I've only been to the Edison show, it's much closer for me (and cheaper)
Not looking to buy a boat, just window shopping right now.

Thanks

John

I like the Edison show because I’m not buying a boat and don’t want to pay too much to look at them.

I believe West Marine has free or discounted tix to the NJ boat expo, however AC much better show and more gizmos in my opinion.

Don't forget about the saltwater expo in March, it is a can't miss show for us, tons of tackle, more tackle and even more and more tackle...and I believe NJ outboards will be there with the full line of Parkers

I was at that show. Waited to go on the Parker but took too long for a driver. Jumped on a pontoon for the kids sake.

For my needs, the Edison show is perfect. Actually, I bought 2 boats from the Edison show with great deals on both.
For $5, I can get my nose full of new fiberglass, get some ideas and get some boat time on a lousy winter day.

Took the wife up to the show yesterday. Got free tix from Gioia Sales. (Who have been awesome to deal with) It was not as big as AC but a nice couple of hours. If it's near you, and you want to look at some new boats, I'd say go for it.
All the best,
JollyMonNJ
PS. Wife gave me the green light for a new Regulator 28. Only drawback is the price tag! Oh well....

I went on Saturday also. Agreed, nice couple hours. Plenty of nice boats to check out.
Also got some good info on the latest electronics.
I saw a thread on THT about auto loans, 8 yrs etc.
At the boat show, saw a "$90K, No money down, $723 a month for 240 months" and a few similar.
Yes, pay 723 a month for 20 years!

I never really considered the Edison show a real boat show. Maybe now a days itís closer in comparison to ac but I remember Going to the AC show as a kid and it was full of huge boats. Sport fishers and all kinds of boats. Now itís 75% center consoles. Gotta give the market whatís hot I guess. Still plenty of discount tix for ac so Iíd rather go there.

I remember this as well. Not so much any more. I think the last "Sportfisher" I can remember was a 35 Henriques and before that maybe a Viking or Cabo? Alway surprised Viking doesn't strut there stuff a bit more at the AC show due to their proximity. But I guess it's really not their target audience.

The NYC boat show had some big boys the last time I was there (not Jan 2019).
I'm guessing nowadays folks who are dropping 400K + do their research online and tour the boats by appointment, not at a boat show.
I wonder what the biggest market share is in NJ? 20-29 ft range? under 100K? Definitely a lot of CC's in Edison.
The North Coast 28 seemed Big.
I also heard plenty of "no wood in the boat" in Edison.
The dealers just give the people what they want!

The main reason there isn't as many bigger boats in the AC show anymore is there is no way to get them to the convention center anymore. Years ago they were hauled out and trucked through town, now there is no travel lifts left in AC to haul them out of the water. So now anything that comes there has to come from off the island by truck. There was talk at one time about putting a lift well in behind the convention center but since they put the new highway in there that killed that plan.

As far as what show is bigger i'm sure it depends on what you are looking for. AC is a much bigger show with lots more to look at. If you are just bored and want to just check out a few boats then Edison would fill that need. Now if you are serious about looking and possible buying AC would give you more choices.

I went to the Edison show last weekend. Crowded. I think I saw more "Sold" signs on display boats than I've ever seen.

If I'm not asking too much can you post a couple of photos and your thoughts on the New NauticStar 32 XS with twin 425s should you get to their booth.
