Default Orient/Greenport/Southhold

Looking to Dock in '19 in Southhold. There is a great fishing report thread run regarding fishing reports in Western Long Island Sound.

LOL, thanks, I can add sea gulls, one grabbed my wifes lure in mid air. What a fiasco trying to get that hook out of it’s beak.

Lack of response to this thread makes one wonder of the quality of fishing on East End.

There's a little Marina, I believed it's named Brick Cove, out that way. I have no affiliation, nor have ever used their facility. I just know it there from looking at an old Bertram years ago. Also heard that all or part was for sale, trying to redevelop it or something like that, but don't bet your house on that info.

I don’t think the lack of response is indicative of the quality of fishing on the east end. More likely, it’s generally less popular due to the limited access and lower population. Let’s face it, as good as the fishing is out there, it’s not as popular as the open ocean and inlet areas.

There are quite of bit of boats out there. I guess sharing info is not their thing. I envy the guys enjoying the Western Long Island Sound fishing reports.

Sharing info was never high on any fishermans' list...Except close friends, and even that is suspect. I've fished those areas often over the years. I used to keep a boat in New Suffolk. IMO, The fishing is better there than more popular Fire Island ares. You just gotta put your time in and make you own fishing reports. I've got a few nice spots around the entire Peconic Bay area.

You view on sharing fishing info not everyone's position. I suggest you check out this highly successful thread that has been going on for a couple of years.

Not MY view at all, just what I’ve experienced over a period of 45 years on the waters of Long Island. I have no problem sharing spots amongst my peers. My view is this, it’s us (fishermen) against them (fish).

I am out in Greenport and would love a East End report. I have such limited fishing time, I want to be able to hit at my limited opportunities.

My normal range is Jessups to the west and Gardiners Island to the East. I'm not much of a night fisherman, but will hit the Gut when the weather conditions allow it.

Count me in.. I'm going to come out of POE in Southhold. First time fishing the area and will have lots to learn. Plan to work Jessups east. If you set up a thread I'll do best I can to promote it and work it.

We are going to need a descent quantity of guys to keep the thread active. The gold standard is the Western Long Island Sound thread. Let's hope more people show interest and then we can start a thread. "East End Fishing Reports" to post reports from Jessups East to the Race .

So I will be up in that area, as my father lives in Riverhead now. He stores his boat at POE and we fish jessups out to Block Island SW ledge. I currently live in Virginia beach now but will contribute when I can and up in the area. Will be up there three times this summer as of now. Plan to fish for early bass and fluke from memorial day to june 2nd.
