Default Block island mansion beach - general beach approach advise.

I rent a house on block island in the summer. We like to frequent mansion beach. I have anchored my boat off the beach for the past few years. I anchor way out wher the kids have to float out on their rafts.

My my question is how close am I legally allowed to approach beaches? Both mansion beach and shore in general?

MA regs say motorboats are prohibited within 150 ' of a swimming area ( ...which may be loosely defined and may be much farther out than just the beach.)

RI state regs are a bit more vague :
https://www.boat-ed.com/abc/abc_spec...dfs/ri_law.pdf ( p. 3 . top left , 2nd diamond down)
"It is illegal to operate a vessel within any marked restricted area such as swimming areas."

But of course it's best to keep it safer by remaining well clear in a motorboat and that will keep other beachgoers and swimmers nearby happier as well.
