Default The Great Sacandaga Lake

This winter has been ridiculous, but the docks are finally in and I saw some smaller fishing boats out last weekend.

Anyone brave enough to launch before Memorial Day Weekend?

When I was a kid (late 70’s & early 80’s) my grandparents had a camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake. We use to go up there from Florida. Loved going up there. We did a lot of fishing and skiing on that lake. I would love to drag my boat up there some year and visit it again.

Snow's still hanging on!

The good news is that there is finally open water on the lake. Lots of debris from the rising levels, though.

I'm planning on May 4th as the first day of the boating season. Hopefully the aluminum prop makes it through unscathed, haha.

Let me know if you do. There are plenty of places to stay on airBnB. I know the Inn at the Bridge has free dock slips for people who stay overnight, as well as parking.

Looks like there's a brand new forum for Sacandaga. Huge thanks to whoever made this because the FB group was getting to be a bit too much. Forums ftw.

Homeaway is another option. June is best because the lake is high and the kids are still in school. Lots of lakefront availability with docks. Also if you talk to the owners directly before booking they will likely give you a discount.

Good. But the hard part is keeping it active. Many of these small forums die quickly.

Literally going to post in it every day. Just made an account. I hope it does well and takes off.

There are Facebook groups for the lake, but it's the same thing every time. Pictures of a sunset, a picture of a bald eagle. Somebody complaining because they got waked while trying to fish in the channel. I just think forums are more useful and easier to navigate/find what you are looking for.
