Default Do the stripers hate us, or what?

Been waiting on the stripers to show up in mass out of Little Egg Inlet this year, but I have to wonder- do i smell? Is it the way i wear my hair? Where are they! I was out for a few hours this morning and worked the bay.. two resident shorts- thatís it. Tons and tons of guys out front burning fuel for little to no payoff.

Maybe itís me, but freezing my grapes off at 6am for a few shorts itís grinding on me.. almost makes you wonder if itís worth it.

What's to wonder? Not even close to worth it! Unless......

Good commitment though, you're not gonna catch them if you don't wet a line.

Thatís what I was thinking while Iíve been reading the reports the last few months. Sounds like theyíre still north, but at this rate, theyíre just going to migrate right past us and leave a very, very short fishing window -_-

We are just coming off two days of good fishing here on LI and there are still fish north and east of us, I would say you have some time still to wait down in Southern NJ.

Letís hope the weather holds out long enough to keep the boats in the water! My only advantage is an outboard and no on board water systems.

If you find the strippers not as friendly as in times past then replacing the 1's with 5's oftentimes helps.
At least that's the trick down in Florida.

Awwww, that's sweet.
A newlywed.

Well just save your singles in a drawer.
They'll still be good in 10 or 20 years.

The bulk of the fish are still north of Shark River.

My slip neighbors caught a 47", 44" and 43" and two 30"+ yesterday out of Barnegat Light. I am not crazy enough to sail out at 5:30am in 32 degree to get my jeweler frozen, but they said it's totally worth it.

Man, you guys are hardcore Vikings. Down here if it's 72 degrees when we head out before sunrise everybody's complaining through their foul weather gear and hot coffee. Need some Grunden layers for that.

I'm the opposite of you, I don't go out for a nice day on the water I go to catch fish. If the fishing is good as long as the weather is "Safe" I I would go out. If the fishing sucks I'll stay home and do something else, when I was a kid in the 1980's and the BFT fishing was great we would go out in almost anything.

To answer your question, the bass are not here. I have been fishing out of LEI for the last 16 years. We haven't had a white water bite on bait since the year after Sandy. I fished yesterday but had to journey almost 30 miles north to get a 36 and 45 inch fish. Sandy also screwed up the bay bite as well. They should be below BI by next week.
