Default bluefin quota

Anyone think there will be another closure anytime soon? Is there anyplace where I can see how much quota is left both for the month and the season?

Yes all next season if you are a Rec guy due to over retention and lack of reporting

More fish than we've seen in years. Newburyport Tourney hung 11 tuna over the weekend. With multiple boats hanging two fish. Our boat is out and hooked up as I type this. I'd guess the quota is closed soon for the remainder of September and will reopen October 1st. Same as August.

It shows plenty of monthly quota left but hardly any for the remainder of the season. How many think they'll go the route of fishing the rest of the month out and then closing versus closing now and reopening October 1.

Reason asking is because I don't start fishing up there until last weekend of September and I'm trying to gauge if it will remain open or not.

Is that pretty solid intel or just hearsay? I too have some considerations to make on taking days off to fish!

I have heard a lot of rumors but none hinting at this, some rumors include closing the remainder of the rec tuna categories such as smalls and mediums but i don't know how that came into play.

I hate being strung along, I have to book hotels and everything else and with no clear answer I don't know what to do or even who to ask cause its all rumors

So commercial shuts down and rec/charter boats can fish ?

I know it's impossible to track landings for rec fisherman but there must be a better way to do this..

All I am concerned about is commercial. Recreational trophy is already closed for this season and will not reopen this year. Moody is speaking about the trophy class for recs being closed all year next year not small and mediums. Rumors were that they were considering closing the entire recreational tuna fishing this season, as well but I don't know why they would do that.

Hoping to confirm or deny it, by someone outside my sewing circle.

It's third hand at best, but they must be plugged in some how as they were spot on about the daily reduction early in the season and the August shutdown before any announcements.

Guess we'll know by Wed evening.
